Cemil Biography:

12.04.1992 -- Cemil Merey is born as the son of machine leader Ahmet Merey (1962) and Ayse Merey (1966) in Neustadt am Rübenberge
1996: On Cemil's fourth birthday his beloved grandpa died (heart attack)
1997: Cemil and his older brother took part in the kuran lessons at
the mosque Cemil flies almost every year to
turkey to see their other family members (cousins etc.)
1998-2012: Cemil visits the elementary school, afterwards the
higher school (Gymnasium its the highest tier to go to)
He graduated school with the Alevel.
In future 2013 he will go to study at university
2001: Discovered his passion to the music and acting in the school theatre. He had his first gig in the school.
2001: After he discovered his passion to music and singing sang always almost all the time and everywhere.
No matter if he was angry, sad or happy. In these years he improved his singing skills and voice and recorded some songs with the help of friends.
2004: The nearby mosque recognized his talent and he was allowed to lead and recite the next pray.
2004-2011: Cemil took part in many Kuran- and Adhan

I want to express my love of the wonderful world Allah made to as many people as possible. Singing is a way of expressing those feelings. I have been singing since I was 9 years old. I realized that could be the chance of a lifetime for me: Singing in front of many people to make the feel good. I am so grateful to Alllah for giving me my voice to sing his words out loud. Singing means freedom and peace for myself- either singing just for myself or in front of others (like my family and friends). I can relax with singingand all the stress laid upon me is falling apart. The smile in the face of others while listening to me is worth so much and it gives me the most satisfaction making others happy.

The Judging Committee members are Bara Kherigi (Awakening Co-Founder), Hamza Namira (Awakening Star), Maher Zain (Awakening Star), and Wassim Malak (Awakening Co-Founder).
The contest has received more than 1,000 videos (755 were approved) from 66 countries (from all the continents) and from all age ranges.
The prize for the first winner is signing record deal with Awakening Records, while second place will perform live on stage with one of Awakening's artists.
