Muhammad Hafiz Biography:
"
My name is Muhammad Hafiz bin Zainal but people usually call me Hafiz Zainal. I will be 21 soon on 1st of July. I was born in Johor Bahru, Malaysia with two sisters and one younger sister. Currently, I am in the second semester of my second year studying Dental Surgery at Alexandria University, Egypt.
I can say that I am an easy going and optimistic person. I'd rather make things positive compared to assume something to be negative without thinking widely. Being a sociable person, my friends will always say that I am a cheerful person and they feel comfortable hanging out with me. I believe that friendship is one of the most important values in human life. I am so lucky that I have the chance to further my studies here in Alexandria where I can make friends with Egyptians who are very friendly especially in my faculty. We often exchange new ideas, our opinions, find many interesting things about each other, and experience new things together. I appreciate friendship and people who surround me.
First of all, singing is my passion and it has become a part of my life since 4 years old. I remembered that I cannot stop singing when listening to the car radio and my late father will comment on my singing. Moreover, music is the most powerful tool used for expression where It does not judge or discriminate, and there is always a piece of you when you listen to the lyrics. I have learnt that singing and music are the platforms where I can find my inner peace, something in my soul that I feel so inspired and alive.
For me, different genres of music convey different meanings and I love so much R&B, Ballad, Blues, World Music, Pop, Smooth Jazz and of course Nasyeed. I will hear to different kinds of music according to my emotions and they give me so much strength to move on especially when I feel uninspired.
Besides, in my opinion, music provides a great source of communication to all people. Most music has a purpose which display its very own message. It's a pleasure for me to use the lyrics to make people think about life and its various lessons, to inspire people and of course I will be so grateful if I can spread Islamic messages throughout the world. I have heard many songs that have accomplished their goal of seizing the listeners. As a Muslim, I think that's the best way of da'wah that I can do Insha Allah.

The Judging Committee members are Bara Kherigi (Awakening Co-Founder), Hamza Namira (Awakening Star), Maher Zain (Awakening Star), and Wassim Malak (Awakening Co-Founder).
The contest has received more than 1,000 videos (755 were approved) from 66 countries (from all the continents) and from all age ranges.
The prize for the first winner is signing record deal with Awakening Records, while second place will perform live on stage with one of Awakening's artists.
