FEDORA
Melodramma in 3 acts

DANIELA DESSI' at Teatro Carlo Felice, Genova, March 2015

On 20th August 2016 the soprano Daniela Dessì suddenly died at the age of 59. She was hailed by critics and colleagues as one of the finest voices of the world of opera. Dynamic plays tribute to the great soprano with this DVD, filmed only one year before her untimely death. Giordano’s Fedora was one of the fortes of her stunning artistic career. In the famous aria “O grandi occhi lucenti” from Act One she perfectly masters her vocal means, delivering a passionate interpretation, worthy of a great star.
The story takes place at the end of the 19th century, in St. Petersburg (Act One), Paris (Act Two) and Switzerland (Act Three). It is a crime story in operatic version, a drama of passion, revenge and guilt that unravels against a historical backdrop of political and ideological conflicts: late 19th-century czarist Russia.
Daniela Dessì is an absolute prima donna, confirming her outstanding class, her generous voice, powerful as well as intense and expressive. Armiliato, especially in the famous aria “Amor ti vieta” from Act Two, stands out for his stage presence, highly expressive, and of course for his powerful voice, rich in nuances. The finale of the opera is all entrusted to the two protagonists, companions on the stage and in life. They surpass themselves, and it is impossible not to be moved when Fedora dies, thinking that fate would shortly turn theatrical make-believe into reality.
Available in CD, DVD and Bluray. Subtitles in Italian, English, French, German, Japanese and Korean.
