FIRST PERFORMANCE IN MODERN TIMES.
The performance of "Ero and Leandro" at the Teatro San Domenico of Crema was organized by a group of young and enthusiastic performers who decided to honour their fellow citizen Giovanni Bottesini in their hometown by reviving a long forgotten opera.
The greek myth of two beautiful humans whose love causes the envy of the gods is here changed by librettist Arrigo Boito, who creates the character of a mean king who opposes their relationship.
On stage there are only three characters and a chorus, engaged in a greek tragedy's scheme.
Very good the performance of the singers: the excellent beautiful Swiss soprano Vèronique Mercier,( Ero) bass Roberto Scandiuzzi ( Ariofarne ) and Gianluca Pasolini (Leandro). Conductor: Aldo Salvagno. Directors: Laura Borello, Gregorio Zurla
