Stayed at the Manohara Hotel, which is within the compound of the Borobudur World Heritage Site. All Sunrise "Tours" must go through this hotel. Wearing a compulsory sarong, we made our way to the Temple in complete darkness through a side gate. The air was cool and mist was very, very thick. We couldn't see the beautiful sunrise that we had hoped for. However, after much waiting, we were rewarded when the sun finally broke through the mist.
We had peace and tranquility until the main gate opened at 8am. The crowds arrived.
