“살고싶다”는 김장훈 표 락발라드이다. 제목은 다소 파격적이고 강렬하나 어려운 시절에 사람들에게 희망과 용기를 북돋을 수 있는 희망의 노래라고 표현할 수 있겠다.
이 곡은 김장훈이 쓰는 한편의 시와 철학 같은 가사가 보통의 레코딩 된 곡에서 표현해온 것을 넘어 녹음에서 나올 수 있는 절제된 보이스와 라이브에서 볼 수 있는 폭발적인 가창력을 동시에 맛볼 수 있는 락발라드 곡이다. “비틀거리는 흔들거리는 세상을 혼자 걷는다”라는 노래 가사처럼 올 한해 유난히 힘들었던 시절을 겪었던 김장훈은 이 노래 한 곡으로 희망과 힐링을 주고 싶은 마음으로 “부둥켜 안고 싶고 위로 받고 싶은” 애절함을 표현하였다.
