After a transcription by Fritz Kreisler in the early 1900s, this piece has acquired renewed appreciation as a charming violin solo. It fits seamlessly into Renaud's program of charming pieces written or transcribed for solo violin and piano, which samples from a wide variety of composers: Handel, Bach, Tchaikovsky, Massenet, Schumann, Ennio Morricone, Charlie Chaplin, and more.
