30 minute medium swing jazz practice backing track for improvising on major 2-5-1 progressions in all 12 keys!
Starts at 0:39. The progressions move up in semitones and the track has no comping - so lots of space to improvise/solo/comp
as you wish. Cool jazz guitar comping lesson by Jens Larsen https://goo.gl/NgJmtP More 2-5-1 jam tracks http://goo.gl/GD3K8s ENJOY!
Chord progression:
II: Dm7 I G7 I Cmaj7 I Cmaj7 :II
Then
II: Ebm7 I Ab7 I Dbmaj7 I Dbmaj7 :II
And so forth....
(see the video for each progression as the track goes on)
In theory, you can start by sticking to the relevant major scale in each key - as in C major scale on Dm7 - G7 - Cmaj7.
Next up, I'd try outlining the chord tones/arpeggios:
Cmaj7 arpeggio = c e g b
Dmin7 arpeggio = d f a c
G7 arpeggio = g b d f
Playing C Major scale will result in C Ionian (Cmaj7 chords), D Dorian (Dm7 chords) and G Mixolydian (G7 chords) - all the same 7 notes!
Next up, I'd recommend trying out some more advanced colours on the dominant chord (G7/G13) by using the
G diminished 1/2-1 tone scale = G Ab Bb B C# D E F (G)
....and then repeat in all 12 keys for a proper jazz workout!

Enjoy......
