Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky was born on May 7, 1840. He composed his first Piano Concerto between November 1874 and February 1875, though he later revised this version after criticisms from the pianist Nikolai Rubinstein. The concerto became and remains still today one of his most beloved works and among the most famous of all piano concertos.
