EDM or Electronic Dance Music : Brief History

Electronic dance music also popular as EDM, dance music or club music, is a wide group of electronic music genres created mainly for dance based environments like night clubs, parties, and festivals. The music is mostly created for playback by DJs and is generally used by who makes a live mix of tracks in a seamless fashion.
Popular examples of early developments of EDM include 1977 song ‘I Feel Love’, a path breaking dance hit without any usage of traditional instruments. By the middle of 2000s, the influence of dance music in American popular culture was already increased to a large extent. EDM Music History

Electronic dance music - also known as EDM, dance music, club music, or simply dance, is a broad range of percussive electronic music genres produced primarily for dance-based entertainment environments such as nightclubs, raves, and festivals. The music is largely produced for playback by disc jockeys (DJs) and is generally used in the context of a live DJ mixes where the DJ creates a seamless selection of tracks by segueing from one recording to the next.
The acronym "EDM" was adopted by the American music industry and music press as a buzzword to describe the increasingly commercial US electronic dance music scene. "EDM" is the umbrella term for which other genre's fall under i.e.; house, euro-dance, trance, techno, trap, dubstep and garage. "EDM" is not a genre of its own but a collected group of sub genres of electronic dance music.
Notable examples include the 1977 collaboration between producer Giorgio Moroder and vocalist Donna Summer on the song "I Feel Love", a groundbreaking dance hit with no traditional instruments. Other early examples include Kraftwerk and Yellow Magic Orchestra during the late 1970s to early 1980s
