Después de varios años de ausencia, Rosendo vuelve a su pueblo natal, San Fernando, y se entera de que un antiguo amigo suyo ha estafado a todo el campesinado de la región, adueñándose de tierras y dinero. Ante esta situación, Rosendo decide frenar ese pillaje y se propone con Rosillo, un caballopura sangre, ganar varias carreras para que los campesinos recuperen sus propiedades.
