The new single by Ivan Segreto, Nessun Dorma, is a unique rendition of Puccini’s famous romanza.
“After five years of artistic research and silence - says Ivan Segreto - I wanted to dive into the musical heritage of my country”. At the same time, though, the singer-songwriter wanted to adopt a different perspective. The original romanza is a poignant love song, and one of the pinnacles of Puccini’s beloved opera Turandot. But Ivan Segreto believes that the song delivers a more universal message: it’s a call to humanity to find the courage to change and grow. “Nessun Dorma is about the light that shines in each of us – explains Segreto – We have a duty to nourish it. This light is what unifies us as human beings, and brings us closer to our Mother Earth”.
Last June, Ivan Segreto made his comeback on the music scene with Semplice Accade, taken from his EP Métasi. Nessun Dorma is the first taste of a new full-length album due to be released in 2020.
The record is the culmination of a five-year spiritual journey, and an invitation to join the singer on an intimate, soul-searching trip. Musically, the albums draws from electronic and meditative soundscapes: Nessun Dorma is the epitome of Segreto’s new artistic path, between classicism and innovation.
