Kite Flying in Singapore.Marina Barrage is one of the few places in Singapore where you can fly kites. Went on a Sunday evening and was surprised to see so many families and groups of friends having picnics and fun there.I remember...When I was young, we used to make our own kites. We would pound glass into powder, boil it with glue and lace it on strings. These were wound on tin cans as we had no fancy reels then. We could fly our kites anywhere and challenge any kites that came near. Kite fighting was the name of the game. Cutting the other kite's strings mid air and see it plunging down was the objective. It was a game of ego and skill - played with gloved hands. How times have changed. Kite flying has become an adult's pastime. Now, kites are ready-made. They are colourful, weatherproof and come in all shapes and sizes. Some are designed for night flying.Looking at the happy faces brought back happy memories of my childhood days. Please leave a comment if you like the video.
