March 5, 2013, marks the 50th anniversary of one of country music's greatest tragedies-the deaths of Grand Ole Opry stars Patsy Cline, Cowboy Copas, and Hawkshaw Hawkins, and their pilot, Randy Hughes, in an airplane crash. Compounding the loss, musician Jack Anglin perished in a car wreck on March 7, the same day as the memorial service for his friends. WSM announcer Eddie Stubbs hosts Cline's widower, Charlie Dick; Hawkins's widow, Jean Shepard; Copas's daughter and Hughes's widow, Kathy Hughes; and Bobby Wright, nephew of Anglin and son of his longtime duet partner, Johnnie Wright, in this conversation and remembrance.
