Papa Irie - Papa Peng

It is unbelievable but true! I (Papa Irie RSR CEO) have released one of my own songs. With all the work we do for several artists on our label, my own projects are always at the back of the line, waiting and waiting.
Since music does not pay our rent, children want to be entertained and free time is a very rare commodity, it is really not easy at all to actively make music.
When a good friend told me that he likes "Papa Peng" very much but unfortunately does not understand enough to make sense, I got the idea to make a video with lyrics. Because Patwa is easier to understand when you read it because of the pronunciation of English words and sentence structure.
Since the world is serious enough the way it is and I do not want to be another European pretending to be a Gangsta, Yardie or Rasta, it was a personal concern to show a little self-irony to defuse eventual misunderstood seriousness.
Please do not misunderstand me: I know and respect Rasta culture, I love Jamaica and Dancehall in all its facets, but I'm just an East German Guy from an artist family who has spent many years abroad and can adapt quickly if he wants.
For me music for entertainment is very important, because I have no time for dreaming. I hope the song is fun, but also lets you think, dance, celebrate and if so, then I've done my job right.
In the future, I will also be releasing songs with better understandable English and even German songs are written.
Until then, love and respect to all the good people out there and please share, stream, share, stream, share, stream.

Es ist unglaublich aber wahr! Ich (Papa Irie) habe einen meiner eigenen Songs veröffentlicht. Bei all der Arbeit für einige Künstler auf unserem Label, stehen meine eigenen Projekte immer ganz hinten in der Reihe an und warten und warten.
Da Musik nicht unsere Miete bezahlt, Kinder unterhalten werden wollen und Freizeit somit ein sehr rares Gut ist, ist es wirklich nicht leicht überhaupt noch aktiv Musik zu machen.
Als ein guter Freund zu mir sagte dass er „Papa Peng“ richtig gut findet aber leider kein Wort versteht, kam mir die Idee ein Video mit Lyrics zu machen. Weil Patwa wegen der Aussprache der englischen Worte und dem Satzbau, leichter zu verstehen ist wenn man es liest.
Da die Welt schon ernst genug ist so wie sie ist und ich kein weiterer Europäer sein will der einen auf Gangsta Yardie oder Rasta macht, war es mir ein persönliches Anliegen ein wenig Selbstironie zu zeigen, um eventuell missverstandene Ernsthaftigkeit zu entschärfen.
Versteht mich bitte nicht falsch: ich liebe die Rastakultur, ich liebe Jamaika und Dancehall in all seinen Facetten, aber ich bin nur ein Ostdeutscher Kerl aus einer Künstler Familie, der viele Jahre im Ausland verbracht hat und sich schnell anpassen kann, wenn er will.
Für mich ist Musik zur Unterhaltung sehr wichtig, denn zum Träumen habe ich keine Zeit. Ich hoffe der Song macht Euch Spaß, lässt Euch aber auch Nachdenken, Tanzen, Feiern und wenn dem so ist, dann habe ich meine Arbeit richtig gemacht.
In Zukunft werden von mir auch Songs mit besser verständlichem Englisch erscheinen und sogar Deutsche Songs werden geschrieben.
