This is Queen at Montreux, at Golden Rose Pop Festival in 1986, where the band performed 4 songs to promote Magic Tour. At this festival only Freddie's singalong was live, because the organisers asked to mime their performance. Also Queen mimed in 1984 one song at San Remo and 4 songs at Montreux, which were broadcast extensively in Europe. In all those cases they mimed just because the organizers have asked that. The Montreux events were to be broadcast around Europe, but because of the complexity of the telecast, the band were required by the organizers to mime their performance. Although they disliked miming, the opportunity of being seen by many potential viewers was too good to pass up. Throughout their career Queen have been against playback performances, as they felt that they would be cheating the audience and they never resorted to miming again. The band had in total 709 concerts in complete formula (Freddie, Brian, John, Roger), and another 3 concerts after Freddie's death featuring John Deacon, after which he retired.
