New song from Awakening Records' new artist Saad Chemmari inspired by the revolutions and struggle for for freedom across the Arab world. Singer/songwriter Saad Chemmari posses a distinctive and spiritually uplifting vocal style. He composes his own songs combining the North African musical tradition with the Western one to produce a unique sound. 'Sahar', Saad's first album with Awakening Records will be released later this year inshaAllah.

Saad Chemmari was born in 1980 in Casablanca, Morocco. He grew up in a household of Literature and art, his fatherbeing a published poet and novelist whose work was published in the Moroccan newspapers. Though he had early leanings towards painting and poetry, Saad found himself irresistibly drawn towards music. Thus from a young age he began to sing and compose his own songs.

Saad was influenced by the Moroccan, Arabic, and Andalusian musical traditions. This rich musical background melted in the furnace of his creativity. Saad's musical development continued after he moved to Germany to pursue his studies there, becoming exposed to different genres of European music giving him fresh inspiration and giving his music a new direction. Saad formed his own music band in Germany and began to expound a new sound and style, combining his rich heritage with his new influences and his powerful voice, and singing about diverse subjects pertinent to Muslims in Europe and indeed throughout the world.
