This rare duo of Sitar and Flute blends together the versatile sounds of North India with the classical melodies of the South of India. The combination of Sitar and Flute is an area which has rarely been explored in the field of Indian Classical music. Maestro Shashank Subramanyam, a renowned exponent of the bamboo flute began performing in 1984. With over 30 years in the field of Indian Music, he has traveled the world over performing and teaching the art of South Indian Classical Music. Shashank often collaborates with musicians from the East and the West and has over 70 CDs and several DVDs to his credit. His album with the legendary guitarist John McLaughlin was nominated for the Grammy Award in 2009. Sitar maestro Purbayan Chatterjee has established himself as one of the brightest stars of the younger generation of Indian classical musicians. He belongs to the Senia Maihar Gharana founded by late legendary Ustad Allauddin Khan and he carries the rich legacy of the great sitar maestro Pandit Nikhil Banerjee. They are accompanied by two of the India's finest percussionists Parupalli Phalgun on Mridangam and Shahbaz Hussain on Tabla.
