Did you know? Famous waltz composer Johann Strauss II was commissioned the piece that would become the Blue Danube in 1865, but the Austro-Prussian war forced him to postpone the project. The Austrian Empire lost, so morale in Vienna was low and Strauss made the piece lighter to cheer people up. Unfortunately, when The Blue Danube premiered in 1867 the audience didn't like it, but only a year later at the Paris International Exposition the piece was a huge success!

Music:
Johann Strauss II
On the Beautiful Blue Danube, Op. 314
Budapest Scoring Symphonic Orchestra, Peter Pejtsik
