The Seasons, Op. 37a (also seen as Op. 37b; published with the French title Les Saisons), is a set of twelve short character pieces for solo piano by the Russian composer Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky. Each piece is the characteristic of a different month of the year in the northern hemisphere. Individual excerpts have always been popular – Troika (November) was a favourite encore of Sergei Rachmaninoff, and Barcarolle (June) was enormously popular and appeared in numerous arrangements.
ABOUT VADIM CHAIMOVICH
Vadim Chaimovich was born in Vilnius, Lithuania. His winning the First Prize at the “Virtuosi per Musica di Pianoforte” International Competition (Czech Republic) in 1991 was followed by more awards at international competitions in Lithuania, Poland, Russia and the US. In 2003, Vadim Chamovich’s outstanding artistry was distinguished with the Promotion Prize of the Dresden Art and Culture Foundation.
The pianist has given concerts in several European countries, Japan and the US, among others at the Musikverein (Vienna) and Carnegie Hall (New York) as well as at international music festival. He collaborated with the Lithuanian Chamber Orchestra, the Dortmund Philharmonic Orchestra, the North Hungarian Symphony Orchestra, and others.
Vadim Chaimovich’s recordings can be heard in several film and TV production, as of late and most notably, in the new TV series “Babylon Berlin” (2017) by the internationally acclaimed German film director Tom Tykwer.
