The Book of Sounds - Part 10 (Single Version)[Official Video]

From Carlos Cipa’s new recording of Hans Otte’s “The Book of Sounds” (“Das Buch der Klänge”), a minimalist piano work from the German composer.

Composed between 1979 and 1982, this intuitive and intimate set of 12 pieces for piano calls for the interpreter to make them their own. For Carlos, this is a personal project: "The Book of Sounds" was extremely influential in his development as an artist, and it marks his first time interpreting and recording the work of another composer.

In Carlos' words: “Part 10 (single version) is clearly the showpiece of the work. An elegant pendulum movement based on triadic refractions wanders elegantly through various harmonic worlds. Through frequent repetitions and isolated accentuated melodic tones, the piece develops a meditative draw that also reveals Otte's interest in Zen meditation…It's just great fun to let yourself fall into the flow of this music.”
