Whitney Houston lives on through her music and continues to inspire and spread love in this rerecording of “Memories”. The song is given new life as a duet that features accomplished Malaysian artiste Dato’ Siti Nurhaliza.

On the surface it might seem like these 2 women have nothing in common. They are not of the same nationality, race or religion. But they, like all of us, are so much more than their differences.

For as long as she can remember Siti has been a dedicated fan of Whitney’s music and talent. Siti learned to be a better singer and performer by watching and listening to Whitney.

The passion and talent that these two artistes have for music is undeniable in this duet, recorded live at Malaysia’s Stadium Negara. They remind us that love, pain, disappointment and every other color of emotion is something we all share.

Today there are loud powerful voices spreading prejudice, intolerance and hate. But if an American raised on gospel music and a Malaysian Muslim singer can come together and create such a thing of beauty it shows that we are all more similar than we know.

Truth echoes in the lyrics “bad memories can hang you up and haunt you. Making good memories can help us heal, forgive and love.”

Together we can drown out the loud bad voices and replace them with our own. Replace them with love.
