The one and only time Whitney Houston & Diana Ross sang together. Here's their beautiful rendition of Carole King's "You've Got a Friend". They sang the song for Muhammad Ali on the celebration of his 50th birthday. The other artists who joined in with Diana and Whitney are the Pointer Sisters, Ella Fitzgerald, Billy Crystal, Raven Simone, Blair Underwood, Tony Danza, The Four Tops, Sinbad, Laila Ali, Dustin Hoffman, MC Hammer, Sugar Ray Leonard, and Evander Holyfield. This one is definitely a treasured time capsule! Ross, an icon and living legend, has two stars on the Hollywood Walk of Fame for her solo work and her work with the legendary Supremes. She has scored national and international top 40 hits on varying charts in every decade from 1963 to 2005. She was also named Entertainer of the Century by Billboard in 1976 and ranked the most successful female entertainer in history by Guiness Book of World Records, counting in her work as a Supreme and her solo work, and her historic mark in popular music as a trailblazer and pioneer. She's won or been nominated for Grammy's, Emmy's, Tony's and Golden Globes, among other awards. Houston, known as "The Voice", is the most awarded female singer in history. Her signature vocal style has been imitated many times by other artists, but never duplicated. Like Ross, she too has blazed records and left a significant and indelible mark on popular music. Although Ross and Houston have different vocal styles, each had a very unique sound, matched only by their huge personalities and glamour, garnering them hit after hit, and legions of fans. Houston paid tribute to Ross, and Ross spoke highly of Houston throughout her career. Houston presented Ross a songwriter's award in the 90's and Ross brought Houston on stage during one of her infamous world tours, but this event is the one and only time they sang together on stage.
