On today’s episode of “Bright Minded,” Miley opened by giving an update on the extended stay-at-home orders around the country. She explained that Governor Andrew Cuomo has extended New York’s stay-at-home order to May 15th, following the same order as Los Angeles’ City Mayor Eric Garcetti. Miley then gave a special shout out to Governor Gavin Newsom for his continued honesty and straightforwardness in speaking to Californians about what their new normal will look like following the pandemic. Next, Miley went through her viewer’s amazing #HighlightingHeroes submissions.

Kicking off “Policy Day,” Miley welcomed special guest Senator Elizabeth Warren, who has spent her life fighting for issues that “Bright Minded” has been discussing this week, such as access to healthcare, economic opportunity and making sure the most at-risk populations don’t get left behind. Senator Warren discussed the most recent Coronavirus relief package, as well as the dire need for more tests so that we can get ahead of the virus instead of chasing it. She and Miley also emphasized how important is to show our gratitude to essential workers on the frontlines at this time, and how in times of crisis we are reminded that we are one world and that we must continue to fight this battle together. Senator Warren signed off with an important message – that the world we want to see depends on our leadership, and so we must protect our right to vote!
