There are indeed homeless people in Singapore. The unseen people who emerge close to midnight to sleep on benches in the parks or on the cold hard floor at the mercy of the weather. These folks are homeless for different reasons. They readily accept food, water or blankets without questioning who we are.
My first trip with Gilbert Goh was a humbling experience. I am happy to have played a small part in making the homeless feel that the world has not abandoned them. Who knows, we may be sleeping in the open like them in the future...
