Duo Alma is the result of a musical encounter between two musicians born on the opposite sides of the world and their instruments, the harp and percussions, to explore what is a largely unexplored path and therefore an even more fascinating one to follow. These two energetic musicians offer an overview of the possibilities offered by this unusual combination, including arrangements, transcriptions, original and unpublished pieces, intertwining dance rhythms and precious timbres, classical and contemporary, folk and jazz.

Maria Chiossi is an Italian-born harpist who studied in Italy at the “Luca Marenzio” Conservatory in Brescia under the guidance of Anna Loro before moving to London to study with Gabriella Dall’Olio at the Trinity College of Music. After a very prolific freelance activity both as orchestral and chamber musician in Europe and Asia, she was appointed Principal Harpist of the National Symphony Orchestra of Chile in 2017.

Rafael Soto Kravetz is a Chilean-born percussionist who started his studies at the age of seven at the Conservatory of the University of Chile, graduating in 2011. He has toured Chile and abroad, participating and winning several solo competitions as well as performing with many world-class artists and playing with the most important orchestras of his country.

The word Alma clearly represents all the musical souls that come to life through the beautiful union of these lesser-known yet enchanting instruments.
