Tenor Ian Bostridge and Sir Antonio Pappano immerse us in the world of Beethoven song in their duo album, featuring at the heart of its program the marvelous song cycle An die ferne Geliebte. Enjoy the album: https://w.lnk.to/btLY
"It’s a distillation of Beethoven as lover, but his beloved is far away and he can never reach her," explains Ian Bostridge of the work, one of the first historical examples of a song cycle. "The sadness of that is so poignant."
The album, part of the #Beethoven2020 year commemorating the composer's 250th birth anniversary, also features violinist Vilde Frang and cellist Nicolas Altstaedt.
