Musicial, KIM DONG RYUL, came back with his 5th regular album [Monologue] in 4 years.
The KIM DONG RYUL’s 5th album [Monologue] is unexpectedly very simple as you can expect from its title. KIM DONG RYUL wanted to make ‘good pop music’, not satisfying his artistic desire. There is no change in the specialties of KIM DONG RYUL’s music, acoustic arrangement with string orchestra and lyrical melodies, but compared to his previous songs which were solemn and sorrowful, this album sounds much more comfortable and easygoing. Most of the lyrics are singing very personal and honest stories which are expected to be the KIM DONG RYUL’s own stories, and frank and simple confession of his belief as a musician for 15 years is also in line with the concept.

ミュージシャンキム·ドンリュルが、4年ぶりに5ｔｈフルアルバム『Monologue』で帰ってきた。
今回のキム·ドンリュルの5ｔｈアルバム『Monologue』は、アルバムのタイトルから感じられるように、意外と非常に素朴である。キム·ドンリュルは今回のアルバムで、音楽的な欲を満たすよりは‘良い大衆歌謡’を作りたかったという。キム・ドンリュル音楽の専売特許である弦楽を加えたアコースティックな編曲と叙情的なメロディーは変わらないが、荘重と悲痛が感じられていた前作に比べて全体的にリラックスして素朴に聴こえる。歌詞の内容もキム·ドンリュル本人の話と予想される非常に個人的で率直な話が多く、15年間活動したミュージシャンとして言いたい所信を率直で淡白に表現していることには変わりがない。

이번 김동률의 5집 음반 [Monologue]는 음반 제목에서 느낄 수 있듯 예상외로 매우 소박하다. 김동률은 이번 음반에서 음악적인 욕심을 채우기보다는 ‘좋은 대중 가요’를 만들고 싶었다고 한다. 김동률 음악에서의 전매특허인 현악을 곁들인 어쿠스틱한 편곡과 서정적인 멜로디는 변함이 없으나, 장중함과 비통함이 느껴지던 전작들에 비해서는 전체적인 느낌이 훨씬 편안하고 소탈하게 들린다. 가사의 내용도 김동률 본인의 이야기로 짐작되는 아주 개인적이고 솔직한 이야기들이 많고, 15년 동안 활동한 음악인으로서 말하고 싶은 소신을 솔직 담백하게 담고 있는 것도 맥락을 같이 한다.
