Join us in an online listening party for Hurray for the Riff Raff’s 'LIFE ON EARTH.' NPR Music critic and correspondent Ann Powers will host a conversation with singer-songwriter Alynda Segarra about the new album. We’ve also just added 'Emergent Strategy' author adrienne maree brown, a major influence on the album, as another guest.
Since 2006, Segarra has evolved Hurray for the Riff Raff from roots-based music to incorporate funk, rock and synths into their sound. 'LIFE ON EARTH' takes on some influences from The Velvet Underground and The Clash, but through it all, “their voice carries the day,” Ann Powers said in a 2022 music preview for Morning Edition. “This is a voice of yearning. This is a voice of self-questioning. This is a voice that lives inside me and inspires me every time I hear it.”
