This "nocturnal poem for string sextet" muses on Thelonius Monk's 1940s jazz standard "Round Midnight"; Mancini’s "Moon River", famous from the 1961 film Breakfast at Tiffany’s; Porter’s haunting "Night and Day", a hit in 1932; and "Stella by Starlight", composed by Victor Young for the 1944 film The Uninvited.
