Carlos Cipa – Pagoda (Debussy redesigned)

The composition takes motives from Debussy's original work, preserving melody lines and the basic harmonic idea but adding a new dense yet delicate pattern-like middle ground, which sometimes bursts out to the treble and brings out an almost virtuosic aspect of Carlos's playing and composing, something he usually refuses to do. A small melody that only appears two times in the Debussy original quietly evolves into a kind of chorus of the new composition, a forte climax that breaks upon the listener. This piece was recorded on a recently manufactured PH bow grand, a very light and soft grand piano.
