ABOUT ALEXANDER LITVINOVSKY
Alexander Litvinovsky was born in 1962 in Minsk (Belarus). He graduated from the Minsk State Music College (1982) as a musicologist, from the Belarusian State Academy of Music in the class of composition under Prof. Dmitry Smolsky (1987) and received a post-graduate degree there (1991). He took part in workshops under the guidance of Jonathan Harvey and Michael Nyman (Great Britain), Louis Andriessen (Holland), Martin Bresnick (USA), Sylvano Bussotti (Italy), Tristan Murail and Fransois-Bernard Mache (France). As a composer he writes in various genres: from chamber, choral and symphonic music to electro-acoustic art. The creative concept: from tradition to avant-garde. Alexander's music has been presented at various festivals and concerts around Europe and USA.
“Tales of The Magic Tree” (composed in 2001) consists of 12 pieces for string orchestra in the romantic vein of Schuman, Schubert and Mendelssohn. At the basis of this work is the idea of the infinity of movement. All images are inspired by the wonderful atmosphere of the ancient park in Niesviz, Belarus.
