Michael Spyres, Lawrence Brownlee – Rossini: La donna del lago, Act 2: "Qual pena in me già desta"

Michael Spyres and Lawrence Brownlee are joined by mezzo-soprano Tara Erraught in this dazzling number from Rossini's La Donna del Lago. The tenors have recorded the album with I Virtuosi Italiani and conductor Corrado Rovaris at the Teatro Ristori in Verona. As Michael Spyres explains: "I have always admired Larry’s singing and had wanted to do a program showcasing this amazing music written for the greatest Rossini tenors. Larry was just as thrilled and so we put our heads together to come up with a program ... We realised that most people don’t actually know about this special time in the history of opera when two tenors would duel on stage for the hearts of the music-goers."
