Sabine Devieilhe and the Purcell Choir join the Orfeo Orchestra under György Vashegyi to bring us Les Boréades, one of Jean-Philippe Rameau's greatest tragédie lyrique works.
This performance highlights the haunting beauty of "Songe Affreux," with Devieilhe's delicate and emotive portrayal of Alphise, Queen of Bactria. Her voice, along with Vashegyi's masterful conducting, delivers a dramatic and captivating interpretation of this Baroque masterpiece.

Conceived in 1763 and never staged in Rameau’s lifetime, Les Boréades finds new life in this recording, part of a decade-long Rameau project in collaboration with the Centre de musique baroque de Versailles. Through the theme of freedom, Vashegyi and his ensemble guide us through a musical journey celebrating the genius of one of Baroque music’s greats.
