Taiyo Biography:
"Taiyo is a 22-years-old Indonesian that has been living in Malaysia for 4 years. Her nickname 'taiyo' -- given by her grandmother -- means sun in Japanese, and she enjoys being a little sun for the world around her. She's a singer, a guitar player, a quirky daughter, and a big sister of two lovely little brothers.

She was born in Bali (November 18, 1990) and raised in Bogor, Indonesia. In 2009, she moved to Malaysia to pursue her Bachelor Degree in University Malaysia Perlis. Three years later, she graduated as a Bachelor of Business with a gold medal award from the vice chancellor in her university. In the early 2013, she decided to continue to Masters Degree and working as a freelance writer in www.emmagem.com.
She had started her musical journey since she was only 3, when she had her first performance singing 'edelweiss' on stage. She had been learning piano and guitar since she was young, joined several bands, choir groups, and singing competitions. In 2011, she won the 3rd place with her solo performance in International Malay Song Singing Competition, an open competition for foreigners in Malaysia.

Music is magically connected to our emotions; develop the intelligence, and kinesthetic manners. It's the powerful thing that affects our life generally. Music helps us balance our life -- it is somehow, a crucial part of education for the human being. That's why; music can be a part of da'wah, in Islamic point of view.

As for myself, I was born in an enchanted melody. My father is a singer, an autodidact pianist and guitar player. My mom got perfect fingers of classical piano player. She taught me singing and music since I was kid and I fell in love with it.

I always find the deep passion inside of me every time I sing. I love how I can make people happy with my singing; I love to see my mom and dad smile every time I sing.

My big dream is to spend my whole life singing for the beautiful world; inspire people with great songs about life, religion, dreams, hopes, and love... And make my parents proud"

The Judging Committee members are Bara Kherigi (Awakening Co-Founder), Hamza Namira (Awakening Star), Maher Zain (Awakening Star), and Wassim Malak (Awakening Co-Founder).
The contest has received more than 1,000 videos (755 were approved) from 66 countries (from all the continents) and from all age ranges.
The prize for the first winner is signing record deal with Awakening Records, while second place will perform live on stage with one of Awakening's artists.
