Yasmeen Biography:
"Yasmeen Najmeddine is a 14 year old singer/songwriter who is passionate for singing and playing her guitar. At the sweet age of 10 she wrote a song called "Thankful" for her family. At the time she had no formal training in singing or even playing guitar. A year later Yasmeen started guitar lesson with Kyle at Visionary College, who then after 6months encouraged her to sign up for her very first singing competition called Futures Fest. From Futures Fest she was selected tosing at Big Valley Jamboree&to compete in Northern Star Talent Search.
At the age of 12 she started taking voice lesson at Visionary College. She then was approached to participate in a local singing competition called Edmonton Undiscovered. She was the youngest contestant from 130 singers placing 5th. Her prize was the opportunity to record three of her original songs on an EP which are now available on ITunes.She was asked to sing the Canadian National Anthem in English&French at the Edmonton Old Timers Hockey Game at Rexall Place with a crowd of approximately 10,000 people. Fresh off a year commitment to the United Way "Change Starts Here" campaign which made over 25 million in private&corporate donations. Yasmeen had another wonderful opportunity to sing the National Anthem for theLeader of the Liberal Party of Canada for Mr. Justin Trudeau, (future Prime Minster of Canada) supporting the Victory Fund Campaign recently. She is now waiting for a call back from Tricon Films&Corus Entertainment YTV- The Next Star cross-Canada auditions. The YTV auditions took place in Montreal, Halifax, Calgary, Vancouver, Winnipeg&Toronto having approximately 5000 kids audition, which will premiere in July 2013.
She is very excited&proud to be a part of the Top 8 International Awakening Talent Contest.
Yasmeen has donated her time with singing&guitar playing for numerous charity&fundraiser events such as The Zebra Child Protection Centre, United Way, Youth Power, International Children's Festival, Run Wild Marathon, Festival of Trees, Singing Christmas Tree, UN International Day of Peace at City Hall, The Fourth Annual Diamond Disco, Breakfast of Champions, Red Tie Gala, Hair Massacres, The 75th Anniversary Celebrations of the Al Rashid Mosque, and Islamic Relief Canada "Songs for Hope" tour featuring Mr. Maher Zain.

Her most recent accomplishments;
St. Albert Idol she placed 1st winning 2013 title.
Futures Fest she placed in 2nd 2013.
Finalist for Big Valley Jamboree&Northern Star Talent Search 2013.
Awakening Talent Contest placing Top 32, Top 16¤tly Top 8th.
Northern Star Talent Search 2012 finalist.
Edmonton Undiscovered 2012 placed 5th from 130 contestants.

I always loved to sing for as long as I could remember. I was introduced to singing at a very young age when my mother and grandmothers would sing to me when I was a toddler. It makes me happy, and I can see how happy it makes others, especially my family. I just truly love to perform. Sharing my music is my passion, and it makes me feel successful when I'm making a difference by being a part of charities and fundraisers. As well, when I'm participating in competitions, music teaches me how to work hard to achieve my personal goals and to always try my very best.

The Judging Committee members are Bara Kherigi (Awakening Co-Founder), Hamza Namira (Awakening Star), Maher Zain (Awakening Star), and Wassim Malak (Awakening Co-Founder).
The contest has received more than 1,000 videos (755 were approved) from 66 countries (from all the continents) and from all age ranges.
The prize for the first winner is signing record deal with Awakening Records, while second place will perform live on stage with one of Awakening's artists.
